IGNITED FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

On 9th December 2023, the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (RNDM) India Central Province, Kolkata, celebrated the Perpetual Profession of Sr. Sunita Marandi and Sr. Nilima Hasda which was held at the Holy Family Church, Kestapur, Kolkata.  We thank God the almighty for the courage and passion for mission of these young women who publicly pronounced their ‘Yes’ to follow the call of the Lord forever. At the same time, it was also a day of thanksgiving of the Lord’s favour for our five Jubilarians; Sr. Thresama Vellara – Platinum, Sr. Helen Michael Shah - Golden, Sisters Monica Mardi, Rani Jacob and Philomena Guria – Silver jubilee. We joined them in chorus singing and praising the Lord for the many years of service they have rendered in the Lord’s vineyard. His Grace, Archbishop Thomas D’Souza congratulated and thanked the sisters for their faithfulness and commitment to their missionary journey. The melodious choir of our pre-postulants and Sisters made the celebration very solemn.

Most Revd. Thomas D’Souza, Archbishop of Calcutta was the main celebrant along with eight priests who concelebrated the Eucharist. The presence of our Superior General Sr. Josephine Kane and her two council members Sr. Margaret Maung and Sr. Joicy Madaserry added more joy to the occasion.  We were delighted to have the parents and relatives of the sisters who have come from far and near, friends, other religious sisters, priests, brothers, parishioners, well-wishers and our sisters from different communities. The Catholic students from our school who belong to Kestopur parish were specially invited along with their parents to participate in the ceremony.

A short felicitation was held to honour these valiant women and the guests. A memento was given to each family in remembrance of the Sisters’ Perpetual Profession and Jubilee followed by an agape. A trip to ECO Park was offered to all those who wish to visit. A bus full of people went and enjoyed their leisure time at the Eco Park.  It was a joyful and graceful momentous day for all.
